Dragon Out of Water
Organic Phoenix Dragon Pearls Jasmine Green Tea

$ 7.00

It tastes:

like spring picked green tea lightly scented with fresh jasmine petals.

It’s good for:

relaxing body and mind, detoxifying, regulating blood sugar, boosting metabolism and promoting healthy teeth, skin, and bones. **

It's doing good for:

one of 5 cause areas of your choice.

It’s pretty awesome because:

this is a very high grade green tea from China's Fujian region that is expertly hand shaped into pearls. Jasmine is known to brighten your mood, green tea is high in polyphenols, the tea bushes on the hillside actually look like a dragon coming out of the water and there’s some built in entertainment: watching the tea unfurl from hand-rolled pearls to reveal a whole leaf and a bud. (You can insert character reveal metaphor here.)

It goes well with:

Curry, reading Aristotle

It’s good for:

energy, loading up on antioxidants (Vitamin C!), boosting your metabolism to burn some extra calories and fat and improving digestion.**

It's doing good for:

one of 5 cause areas of your choice.

It’s pretty awesome because:

while we’ve all read the scientific studies that green tea fights certain cancers, strengthens bones and teeth, provides serious energy and increases longevity we fairly recently had a live mascot to demonstrate. Minagawa Yone of Akaike, Fukuoka, Japan was the world’s oldest living person until she passed in August 2007. A supercentenarian, she reached the crazy old age of 114! We of course can not claim that it was the Sencha alone that kept her going. But we’re going to. Sencha makes you live to 114. Tell your friends.**

like a happy marriage of organic green tea and citrus, ginger and peach. Slightly sweet, not too dry nor too citrus-y.

It blocks an inhibitory neurotransmitter called adenosine, effectively increasing the firing of neurons and the concentration of neurotransmitters like dopamine and norepinephrine. It tastes:

semi-sweet and grassy with hints of chestnut.

It’s good for:

acquiring antioxidants that have been proven to help fight cancer, lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure, reduce the chances of getting the flu and other infections and help to reduce the signs of aging.**

It's doing good for:

one of 5 cause areas of your choice.

It’s pretty awesome because:

the way this tea is made hasn’t changed in centuries: the leaves are hand-rolled in a hot, steep-sided pan resulting in a nutty tasting green tea. Plus, the tea is named for a legend that tells of a benevolent dragon that resides in a well in Zhejiang Province who provides just the right amount of rain to grow the tea leaves. And nice, flying serpents are awesome.

It tastes:

like the sweet tropical flavor of passionfruit added to the lively, sweet, and lush flavors of green tea.

It’s good for:

weight loss, diabetes prevention, reducing bad cholesterol, helping to alleviate depression, helping decrease wrinkles and the signs of aging. It is also anti-viral and anti-bacterial.**

It's doing good for:

one of 5 cause areas of your choice.

It’s pretty awesome because:

even though passionfruit was technically named for suffering, we're going to go with the other definition: a strong and barely controllable emotion. The word evokes a feeling that makes you want to go out and experience life. It’s what you love; it’s what fuels you; it’s what completes you. And you could probably use a little energy boost for all of that passion.

boosting your immune system, lowering your blood pressure, preventing cancer, lowering your risk of developing heart disease and bringing you a soothing, relaxing feeling.**

It's doing good for:

It’s pretty awesome because:

legend has it that a servant by the name of Genamai was once serving hot tea to a warlord. Rice that he had stealthily taken for a snack fell out of his pocket into the hot tea. The warlord jumped up grabbed his sword and cut off Genamai’s head. He then sat down and calmly drank the tea anyway. He loved it. He felt bad for Genamai so he declared that this rice and tea be served each morning and be called ‘Genmaicha’ (cha being the name of ‘tea’ in Japanese). Mistakes can be magic. And tragic. Zen Matcha
Organic Matcha Green Tea

$ 29.50

It tastes:

fresh and vegetal. Organic Matcha is a fine ground, beautiful hued green tea powder that can not be compared to any other tea. It looks and tastes completely original.

It’s good for:

antioxidants, enhancing calm, boosting memory and concentration, increasing energy levels and endurance, burning calories, detoxifying the body, clearing the skin, fortifying the immune system and improving cholesterol levels.**

It's doing good for:

one of 5 cause areas of your choice.

It’s pretty awesome because:

this way of processing and preparing tea was originally created, and eventually abandoned, in China. Traveling Zen monks from Japan saw this way of turning tea into powder, brought tea and tea seeds back with them to Japan and began their own tradition of creating powdered green tea – and Matcha was born. Today, Zen monasteries in Japan use Matcha to keep them awake and alert during long periods of meditation. You can use it to get through work with a smile.

It goes well with:

dark chocolate, focusing up

It comes from:

Japan

What’s in it?

organic Matcha green tea powder

Caffeine:

medium

This how to do it:

Check out our How to Steep Guide.

This is how to do it:

1. Use between 1/2 – 1 teaspoon of matcha powder per cup.  (It's totally up to personal preference on how strong you like your matcha. Experiment away!)

2. Add 2 oz (ish) of just below boiling water. This is important! Burning the powder will make it taste bitter. If you’re not entirely sure, too cool is much better than too hot!

3. Mix it up in a W shape, using a bamboo whisk, a kitchen whisk or even a fork. Whisk well until all lumps are gone and tea is smooth and creamy with a fine foam on top. Make sure you get all the matcha from around the cup or any that might be stuck at the bottom.

4. Once you have a liquid paste top off with 4-6 oz of 175 (ish) degree water (to taste). Stir. If you are making a matcha latte substitute the 4-6 oz of water with your milk of choice.

5.Drink Up!
